The Archival Process-Assign box and folder number
Throughout the course of my practicum, I have been assigned various task which all have built upon each other and provided an opportunity, to use various techniques and procedures that have been discussed in the archival courses I have taken thus far.
Some of my assigned work has been related to donated personal items and boxes of school-related publications of various media. This involved hours of sorting through boxes to catalog the items within the collection as well as creating and organizing the collection, based on two extremely important factors; the 'original order' and the ‘respect de Fonds.’ Basically, making sure the items stay in their original order as created by the individual or organization and that when at all possible, make sure that the collection is kept together and not mixed with other collections.
The acid-free boxes that are presented here are just a few of the boxes that I have been able to help archive. The proper acid-free files were selected and then the items were place in the appropriate file. A pencil was used to label each folder after the sequencing of the items has been fully completed.
